You know what you can afford, and that you can get a mortgage. Now it’s time to start looking for a house to buy.
Take time and write a list of the areas that you want to live in. If you are moving to an area you don’t know, discuss with a local estate agent who can advise on the best areas, and even specific streets to look at to match your requirements.
It is also helpful to write a list of your property requirements, how many bedrooms, do you want off street parking? Does it need to be within walking or driving distance to a place of work or school? Do you need a safe enclosed garden for young children or family pets? Do you like new or older properties?
The more you think about what you want the easier it will be. Don’t worry if you don't know yet, view some properties and develop your list as you go. You will soon learn what you like and don’t like, what are essentials and what you can live without.
